Hey everyone!

My name is Chewbacca Bowers, "Chewie" for short. I am a Pitbull American Bully mix. I am 7 weeks old and I have a big brother and a big sister.

So far I have been enjoying my new home especially going to work with mom. I meet lots of people with mom and get all the cuddles and pets.

My day starts at 5am because mom has to get ready for work. I go outside where it’s really cold so I hurry. Then I eat breakfast and take a nap when mom leaves. I usually wake up and play with dad before a little bit before he leaves around 7am. I get a little sad and howl to get my brother Judge to come check on me then I take a nap. Mom and Dad watch me on the camera to make sure I’m okay. Mom usually comes home for lunch where I go outside and get another meal. After I finish mom takes me out to play and then I go to work with her. I love being in the car but I make sure mom holds me. When we get to her work she makes me walk so far to her classroom. In the classroom I play with my friends then I take a nap, go outside, and play some more. After her class I have to take another walk outside while she treats her football kids. They also think I’m super cute and I get to play some more in the office. By the end of the day with mom I am starving. Mom packs me up and takes me home where I get to eat some more. After dinner I take nap because playing with all those kids wear me out!! I can sleep all evening but mom and dad like to wake me up so I can sleep at night. I usually come out and cuddle mom for a little bit and play until I fall asleep again. I sleep A LOT in the evenings! After my late dinner snack we go outside one last time and then I go to my nice warm bed to sleep and do it all over again the next day.

Life with Chewie has been an adjustment. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve had a tiny puppy in the house. We were worried about potty training and getting him adjusted with our other dogs and busy schedules but so far it’s been okay! Chewie has fit right into the family and I think that Judge and Ruby are finally warming up to him. Right now he is still too small for Judge to want to play with him but Chewie tries to get him to. Ruby is older so she really just sleeps all day but she has let Chewie snuggle a little closer each day.

We’ve learned that routine is key. Since our days start early it’s been easy to get Chewie adjusted, I would say the hardest part is the number of hours he has to be alone. I’m thankful that we got him during the spring because I didn’t have the luxury of leaving whenever I needed to in the fall with football. Chewie is also sleeping through the night thanks to a heated blanket, I think he gets the feeling that he’s next to us because he’s nice and warm. Very thankful he is not waking us up to go outside in the odd hours of the night!

I’m also very thankful for a boss who loves dogs! Everyone has been great about Chewie coming to work, it’s great now but I know when he gets bigger it will be a lot harder. We also learned that this is a crucial socialization time so we are making sure get him around people and different places. When we got Judge COVID hit and we didn’t socialize him as much. Chewie’s next adventure is to meet other dogs but we are waiting until he gets all his shots!

Stay tuned for more adventures with the Bowers fam!
