So I've lived in Denison about two full weeks, currently my afternoons are for exploring but most of the time has been spent reading, doing things around the house, and naps haha.

We have had the pleasure of hosting 3 of our closest friends over the last couple weekends in addition to our small adventures so I decided to put them all together.

Check out the following!

Kayaking on Waterloo Lake. This was a super neat experience. It's a small lake located in town, has a walking trail, dog park, horseshoe stakes, sand volleyball, and a lot more! We took advantage of a portable kayak rental. The entire process was neat, we made an online reservation, received a code via text and got the kayak out of the locker. It was super cheap at $10 an hour for a double/single kayak. We will definitely take advantage of this activity more often!

Judge enjoyed playing with cousin Piper in our huge backyard and sharing all the bones!

ree

Judge and cousin Relay took lots of nap during their weekend visit!

Every day I drive through downtown I see it phrased as "Historic" this weekend we took the opportunity to explore it and found several antique stores with historic treasure! There was also murals of history, will definitely make more trips to see all the different items!

ree

Denison has a Farmer's Market every Saturday. When my friend Shaylee came down she saw this on her way to get coffee. We stopped to check it out and had lots of neat finds. Below there are more pictures of the items we found!

Took a trip across the way and ended up in rival territory for dinner. One of the interesting things about Denison is that most restaurants close super early so we had to explore for dinner. We tried a flight of homemade brewed drinks and it was a hit. The food was also super amazing. (Will do a separate food blog at some point). Our waitress made excellent recommendations based on our usual choices and we will definitely try this place again soon!

Downtown there is a spot known as "Music City" with lots of symbols of instruments. The picture features a picture of myself with our friend Shaylee and a cool guitar that is located outside the pavilion!

ree

A xylophone model that actually plays (I played Hot Cross Buns) located near Music City outside one of the shops we looked at!

ree

Another find in Music City, the "Crosswalk" is piano keys!

ree

A fountain located in Waterloo park next to the lake! Judge wanted to play in the fountain but was too scared to actually swim towards the middle.

ree

In one of the shops downtown there is a coffee bar located in an antique shop. This shop is not just home to delicious caffeine beverages but also to several local vendors including this candle/wax melt vendor. I got two of the wax melt scents and can't wait to try a candle!

ree

A walk in Forest Park, one of the many parks in Denison. This park is right next to Munson Stadium where I will be spending Friday Nights! Judge was a big fan of this park. More pics will come soon and probably a separate blog about all the differences among the parks located throughout Denison!

Throughout the pandemic I have definitely become a huge reader. In our downtown exploration we found this cute local bookshop. Currently I am reading the Sweet Magnolia series by Sherryl Woods, but due to popular demand I couldn't find them here. However I did find a Nicholas Sparks book, and they had a huge Sci Fi section for James so we will start shopping more locally!

ree

Another small vendor in the coffee shop store! Super neat find and can't wait to try out the handmade soaps and other products!

ree

The Music City pavilion located Downtown, home to live music and events. Looking forward to checking this spot out once COVID goes away.

Our finds from Saturday going to the Farmer's Market and visiting downtown shops. At the Farmer's Market we found a homemade dog treats, jams (there were a ton of flavors including big red, Shaylee bought the Cherry and the Bourbon Apple. James and I plan to visit again and stock up on fresh produce. The wax melts were from different antique shops we found downtown, the Wedding Day scent was amazing! The books were from the Book Rack, Shaylee and I are thinking of doing a Book Club and rotating the Nicholas Sparks books we bought. We got all this for under $50.

ree

Ending the adventure pictures with out latest trip to Lake Texoma with two of our best friends, Gabby and Cody. We had so much fun relaxing in the lake and definitely plan to visit again. This spot is about 15 minutes away from our house.

I hope you enjoyed the adventures we had and stay tuned for a Denison Park blog, Texoma Foods blog, and possibly a snack blog. Also a return to sport blog as the MLB kicked off, the NBA had it's opening weekend, and the NFL is preparing for training camp.

1A-4A ball in Texas is starting tomorrow, 5A-6A will start in a month so it will be interesting to see how this goes. School will be starting next week so I hope to keep the content coming.

Although we have seen a lot of Denison there are spots we have yet to check out!

The adventure continues,

-CCB
